During the September 6, 2026 panel at the University of Science and Technology of China, BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu highlighted the company's latest technological breakthroughs.
Wang said BYD released its second-generation Blade Battery and flash charging technology in March, achieving "5 minutes of charging for sufficient range, 9 minutes for a full charge. At minus 30 degrees Celsius, only 3 extra minutes are needed." He likened the charging speed to listening to a song and compared it favorably to refueling a gasoline vehicle.
Wang also noted that last year, the BYD Yangwang U9 X supercar set a production-car speed record of 496.22 kilometers per hour, the fastest mass-produced car in the world. He added that BYD hired more than 70,000 fresh university graduates over the past five years, with 80 percent entering R&D roles and 70 percent holding master's or doctoral degrees.
The address is part of a broader campaign that highlights Anhui's emergence as a top automotive production hub. In the first half of 2026, 1 in every 5 exported vehicles from China was produced in Anhui, the province said.
