BEIJING, Aug. 3, 2026 - The China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) officially released its latest industry data, announcing that the core scale of China artificial intelligence industry exceeded 1.2 trillion yuan in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 40%. As of June 2026, the number of AI enterprises in China has surpassed 6,600, accounting for 15% of the global total, forming a complete industrial system covering the base layer, model framework layer, and application layer.
The artificial intelligence industry chain is divided into three layers: the base layer, the model framework layer, and the application layer. In 2025, the scale of the base layer was approximately 300 billion yuan, mainly including AI chips, computing power infrastructure, and data services; the model framework layer reached about 250 billion yuan, covering large model R&D and MaaS services; the application layer exceeded 650 billion yuan, becoming the largest segment.
This milestone marks a leap from concept innovation to a new engine of the real economy. Compared with the industrial scale of more than 900 billion yuan in 2024, the industry continued to grow at a high rate of more than 24% on a high base, officially entering the trillion-yuan industrial cluster track.
