The Wall Street Journal reported exclusively on the 21st that U.S. Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll is expected to step down by the end of this year, owing to 'months of tension' with Defense Secretary Hegseth. The report said Driscoll could even depart sooner.
Driscoll's departure would mark another shake-up in the U.S. Army's senior leadership. In April, Hegseth abruptly removed Army Chief of Staff General Randy George, and President Trump has yet to nominate a formal replacement.
The Journal said Driscoll has already begun preparing to leave. This summer, he and his family moved out of the Army Secretary's residence at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall.
As of now, neither Driscoll nor the Pentagon has commented on the Journal's report.
