Shanghai has issued a plan to develop service trade coordinated with its artificial intelligence industry, proposing to expand overseas calls for computing power and foundational large models and to support exports of agent and multimodal-generation model products, according to National Business Daily.
The plan, released by seven municipal departments including the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, also encourages enterprises and institutions to set up AI R&D centers, open-source platforms and cooperative labs.
In a related development, China Satcom has joined the IMT-2030 (6G) Promotion Group's satellite-terrestrial fusion (NTN) working group as a founding member, a move seen as positive for the satellite internet sector.
Analysts say exporting models and computing power helps leverage China's AI advantages globally and vie for a voice in international AI governance, though challenges such as cross-border data compliance remain.
