Alibaba is preparing to launch 'Qwen Go', a personal agent built on its Qwen large model that extends AI assistance from office productivity into real-life chores, according to multiple media reports.
In trial versions, Qwen Go can help users file compensation claims for flight delays, apply for price-protection refunds on purchases, get quotes and book car maintenance, and reserve sports venues, among other errands, marking a further expansion of what personal AI assistants can actually do.
The launch follows a burst of global activity in the consumer agent space. Meta's personal AI assistant Muse has gone viral overseas, surpassing 5 million downloads in its first 22 days, roughly twice the pace of ChatGPT at the same stage. On October 12, Ant Group's AI product Lingguang reportedly began small-scale beta testing of a new version benchmarked against Meta Muse. On October 8, Google launched a Gemini agent positioned for enterprise use that can independently complete a range of knowledge work. Meta is also releasing two new models, Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full, which it says match or beat major rivals on several agent, coding and knowledge-work benchmarks.
Domestic data already shows AI entering consumer decision-making: Meituan's Xiaotuan assistant saw users and calls during the National Day holiday grow more than 60 percent compared with the May Day holiday, while Douyin's Doubao hotel-booking orders rose over 56 percent week on week with sales up more than 71 percent. Analysts expect the boundary of AI competition to expand from single-model capability to full-stack coordination spanning self-developed chips, hyperscale clusters, low-cost inference and agent workflows.
