On August 22, the improper use of formaldehyde solution for preservation by some cabbage purchasers in Kangbao County, Zhangjiakou, Hebei, was exposed. Upon learning of it, Beijing's Xinfadi agricultural wholesale market swiftly launched a full-chain traceability check and confirmed the implicated Kangbao problematic cabbage never entered the Xinfadi market.
After the incident surfaced, Xinfadi immediately verified the origin certificates, transport vehicles, and procurement channels of all cabbage entering the market one by one. The market has long enforced a strict agricultural-product admission system and sampling-test mechanism, ensuring the implicated vehicles and batches did not enter Xinfadi trading. To further safeguard food safety, Xinfadi also increased the frequency of rapid tests for vegetable pesticide residues and illegal additives, preventing unqualified produce from entering the market and guarding the capital's 'vegetable basket' safety.
At present, Xinfadi's cabbage supply is ample; all products have standardized origin certificates and qualified test reports, transaction prices remain stable and unaffected by the incident. The market will continue to strengthen admission testing, ensure every batch of vegetables is safe and reliable, closely monitor the incident's developments, and stand ready for emergency response at any time.
