A CCTV reporter has learned that on August 22 local time, a fast-spreading brush fire broke out on a hillside on the outskirts of Reno in northern Nevada, burning at least 2,500 acres (about 10.1 square kilometers) and threatening hundreds of homes.
According to a post by the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District of Washoe County, Nevada, on social media, by the evening of that day the fire, named 'Hawk,' had grown to between 2,500 and 3,000 acres and was moving northeast. The Washoe County Sheriff's Office said the fire threatened about 1,000 homes and authorities have ordered evacuations.
