Xinhua, Bangkok, August 23 — Thailand's 4th Army Region issued a warning on a social media platform on the evening of the 22nd, saying that multiple serious incidents occurred in southern Thailand that night and authorities are investigating; the public is urged to stay alert.
According to Thai media reports, on the evening of the 22nd a series of violent incidents including explosions and arson struck the three southern provinces of Narathiwat, Yala and Pattani, leaving at least two people injured. The attacks included torching car tires and district administrative offices, and blowing up utility poles and convenience stores. At least 11 violent incidents occurred in Narathiwat province, one of which — a car bombing — injured two people.
A military task force announced via social media that a curfew would be imposed across Narathiwat province from 22:15 on the 22nd to 06:00 on the 23rd. Residents with genuine emergencies must obtain permission from local military, police or administrative personnel before traveling.
