Iranian Official: Any Country Participating in Economic Restrictions on Iran Deemed an Enemy

   2026-08-23 CCTV.com20

On the 22nd local time, Rezaei, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, stated that Iran has told countries around the world not to wage an economic war against Iran together with the United States. Any country that participates in imposing economic restrictions on Iran will be regarded by Iran as an enemy.

Rezaei said the economic war launched by the Trump administration is also a propaganda war. Although Iran has long suffered U.S. sanctions, it has learned how to circumvent them. He said the issue of a maritime blockade cannot be resolved overnight; Iran has endured months of U.S. maritime blockade but has still succeeded in selling its oil.

In addition, he said any U.S. move in the southern shipping lane of the Strait of Hormuz would become a target of Iranian strikes, and Iran would strike any meetings between the United States and any anti-Iran forces in the region.

Regarding talks between Iran and Oman over the Strait of Hormuz, Rezaei noted that one of the important consultations between the two sides is coordinating on shipping lanes and trade transit, and currently there is no problem with the negotiations. The meeting between the two countries' foreign ministers is progressing smoothly and talks continue. The Strait of Hormuz is vital to Iran, and Iran will reach a final agreement with Oman.
