On October 28, Xinhua reported that China's embodied-artificial-intelligence industry is spawning new career paths — from training robotic arms to building virtual rehearsal grounds for inspection robots. In September, China's Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and other departments announced 11 new professions, including embodied-AI robot application technicians and digital-twin engineers.
At Sevnce Robotics in Chongqing's Liangjiang New Area, embodied-AI robot application technician Tang Zixiang trains robots to perform tasks, adjusting knobs to simulate working conditions and using the resulting data to train AI models before deploying them on robotic arms. "Our job is to help robots move from the laboratory to a wide range of real-world applications," Tang said.
Digital-twin engineering, another newly recognized profession, lets inspection robots rehearse routes in 3D-reconstructed virtual factories before deployment, potentially cutting on-site commissioning from two or three weeks to two or three days. Figures from MIIT show China had over 400 humanoid-robot models and produced more than 40,000 units in the first half of 2026.
As the industry chain specializes, it is opening opportunities for people with varied backgrounds, and Beijing City University has launched an intensive embodied-AI training program combining classroom instruction with hands-on work on real robots.
