SAIC Motor disclosed on October 27 that it sold 3.147 million vehicles in the first three quarters, remaining China's top-selling automaker, while overseas sales reached 1.166 million units, up 52.4% year on year and already exceeding its full-year 2025 overseas total, Gasgoo and IT Home reported on October 28.
In SAIC's largest overseas region, Europe, the MG brand sold over 280,000 units in the first three quarters, up 23%, with September UK sales of 18,000 units setting a brand record and electrified models accounting for 91.6% of the mix. MG also grew sales in 18 Central American and Caribbean markets by 86% year on year, blending fuel, hybrid and pure-electric products.
The commercial-vehicle arm added momentum, with September overseas sales of 18,395 units hitting a record, up 120%. SAIC Volkswagen's first batch of exported Lavida X Long for Mexico rolled off the line, marking the first extension of its finished-vehicle exports to North America, while Buick Electra E7 has begun export to South Korea.
The results illustrate how a deep brand and channel base lets a Chinese automaker keep double-digit growth in Europe even under tariff pressure, while diversifying its overseas structure with surging commercial-vehicle exports.
