XPeng's Robotaxi service "XPeng Youyou" has obtained a citywide L4-level autonomous-driving demonstration operation qualification in Guangzhou, allowing passenger-carrying demo operations across the jurisdiction and accelerating commercialization, the October 27 Auto Morning Brief reported.
In a separate supply-chain development, NIO's self-developed large-cylinder battery will be contracted for production to EVE Energy and Guoxuan High-Tech, with very small-batch cell output by year-end, to be fitted on NIO's upcoming new models. The move mirrors a broader trend of automakers designing cells in-house while outsourcing volume manufacturing.
The same brief noted Toyota and Honda are testing humanoid robots in Japanese factories for wire-harness assembly and vehicle inspection, with Toyota planning to deploy hundreds of thousands of industrial robots by 2028 — a sign that human-machine collaboration is spreading from China to global automakers.
Together, the items show autonomous driving and battery self-development moving from pilots toward scaled, compliant deployment in China's NEV sector.
