On the evening of October 24, the vessel "Sim Curie" loaded with over 2,300 new-energy vehicles departed Guangzhou Xinsha Port for Australia under the escort of maritime authorities, China News Service reported on October 25. The brands on board were mainly BYD and Geely, underscoring the rapid rise of Chinese marques in the global market.
The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) said China's automobile exports will surpass 10 million units in 2026, with NEVs becoming a key engine of export growth. As the largest vehicle import-export port in South China, Xinsha is a critical gateway for NEVs going overseas.
So far this year, the port's vehicle exports have maintained strong momentum: from January to October, Xinsha completed 180,000 units of finished-vehicle exports, up about 234% year on year, and the full-year total is expected to exceed 220,000 units. Maritime authorities said they will keep innovating services to help Xinsha become a primary export port for domestic cars and cultivate new foreign-trade advantages.
The shipment highlights how coastal ports are scaling up as NEV export hubs, turning China's manufacturing strength into growing overseas market share.
