Yiwu Christmas Product Exports Surge 20.4% as Global Buyers Place Early Orders

2026-08-11 Yiwu Customs / Securities DailExport Trade Reporter20

Yiwu's Christmas product exports reached 2.14 billion yuan in H1 2026, a 20.4% increase. Global buyers are placing orders earlier than ever, with shipping deadlines pushing the production season forward.

Despite Christmas being five months away, the Christmas products zone in Yiwu International Trade City has already entered its most intense delivery countdown. Customs data shows that Yiwu's Christmas product exports reached 2.14 billion yuan in the first half of 2026, a 20.4% year-on-year increase.

The rhythm of the entire Christmas products industry has been reshaped. An Iraqi buyer captured the urgency succinctly: 'We must complete purchasing before the end of July — new designs appear every year, and when you see them, you have to act fast.' This is not an isolated sentiment but reflects an industry-wide acceleration of the procurement calendar.

For merchants in the trade city, the busy shipping season now begins in May. Orders destined for Europe and South America require longer transport times, so all goods must be shipped by July to ensure arrival before the holiday season. One store owner reported that overseas customer orders started arriving right after the Chinese New Year, with the delivery schedule now fully booked through August.

Innovation is driving the growth. Voice-controlled lighting, dynamic decorations, and other tech-enhanced Christmas products are seeing strong demand. These innovative designs command higher margins and are generating early排单 (backorder) situations, with some factories operating at full capacity months ahead of the traditional peak season.

The 20.4% growth in Christmas exports is a microcosm of Yiwu's broader export resilience. Despite trade policy headwinds and global economic uncertainty, the city's small commodity ecosystem continues to find growth through product innovation, market diversification, and supply chain flexibility. The Christmas category, in particular, demonstrates how Yiwu merchants have evolved from simple manufacturing to design-driven, market-responsive operations.
