China's National Science and Technology Ethics Committee's medical ethics sub-committee released an AI medical-imaging research ethics guideline, requiring written informed consent from participants and flagging hallucination and distortion risk

China's National Science and Technology Ethics Committee, through its medical ethics sub-committee, released a guideline on the ethics of AI medical-imaging research, drawing attention to the governance of a fast-moving application area.

The guideline requires written informed consent from research participants and focuses on ethical issues in algorithm training and model evaluation - particularly the risks of hallucination and distortion in synthetic imaging data. It stresses that any AI-generated content touching health, body or property must be traceable, human-reviewed and disclosed to the user.

For enterprises, the message mirrors broader AI-governance principles: in scenarios involving health, finance or sensitive personal information, AI output should pass source-traceable, human-review and user-informed checks before it reaches the public.
