On August 28, reporters learned from Dongfang Electric Corporation that China's self-developed F-class 50-megawatt heavy-duty gas turbine departed from Deyang, Sichuan Province, en route to Kazakhstan. This marks China's first complete export of a nationally manufactured high-end heavy-duty gas turbine, signifying that China has broken long-standing foreign technological monopolies in this field and entered the international high-end energy equipment market.
As a globally mainstream high-end model, F-class heavy-duty gas turbines operate with core working temperatures exceeding 1,300 degrees Celsius, with high technical barriers and wide application scenarios. They are currently the most mature commercially deployed primary gas turbine tier globally. The F-class 50-megawatt heavy-duty gas turbine being shipped will be used in the Jambul Oblast joint-cycle power generation project in Kazakhstan. The Chinese enterprise will provide three complete gas turbine equipment sets for the project while simultaneously offering full lifecycle operation and maintenance support services, achieving an integrated package of equipment, technology, and services going overseas.
Fang Yu, director of the National Key Laboratory at Dongfang Turbine Co., Ltd. of Dongfang Electric Corporation, stated: We have carried out customized technical upgrades for the three gas turbines tailored to the local extremely cold climate and small grid peak-shaving needs. On one hand, we solved the low-temperature startup problem — the units can reach full load in just over ten minutes. On the other hand, we specially adapted the control system, significantly improving primary frequency regulation capability and grid support capability, ensuring safe and stable operation under complex working conditions.
