On October 16, the X8510 multimodal express freight train departed the Guangzhou Dalang railway yard bound for Yiwu West, a full direct trip of about 22 hours, the Greater Bay Area Economic Net reported on October 19. This is the first scheduled express freight train from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to Yiwu, building an efficient and stable logistics artery between "Bay Area manufacturing" and the "world supermarket."
The train forms a two-way loop with the demonstration train from Yiwu West to Guangzhou International Port launched in January 2025, running six fixed trips per week. Previously, there was no direct rail service between the two regions, and goods moved mainly by road with limited capacity and weather vulnerability. Now the service uses an all-in-one pricing model — one quote, one bill — cutting enterprises' comprehensive logistics cost by about 20%, with fixed destination, fixed schedule and fixed price for high punctuality and large capacity.
Transport categories cover home appliances, furniture, lighting, daily necessities and small commodities. As a direct link between the Pearl River Delta advanced-manufacturing cluster and the Yiwu global small-commodities distribution center, Bay Area goods are distributed via Yiwu across the Yangtze River Delta and the nation, while Yiwu goods radiate to South China via the Bay Area, forming a new "production–transaction–distribution" synergy.
After arriving at Yiwu West, goods seamlessly connect to the Yixinou China-Europe train network, offering exporters a new "rail-plus-rail" path to overseas markets. Rail operators said they will optimize schedules around the Double 11 and Double 12 e-commerce peaks to convert rail's stable, green-low-carbon advantage into real cost savings for enterprises.
