As of October 17, the volume of cross-border e-commerce import waybills supervised by Yiwu Customs this year surpassed 100 million, hitting that milestone more than 40 days earlier than last year and setting a record high for the period, Global Times reported on October 19. So far this year, Yiwu's cross-border e-commerce imports have covered more than 70,000 categories — food, cosmetics, infant formula, toys and more — from over 90 countries and regions.
CCTV News footage from inside the Yiwu International Commerce City's Global Digital Trade Center shows smart devices and smart toys everywhere. During the National Day holiday, many tourists came to experience these products, with strong sales and some foreign buyers placing orders of hundreds of units at once. Beyond manufacturing strength, Yiwu is also launching cultural-tourism events such as a "hi-tour play season," turning the city from a pure "world supermarket" into a "world showroom" that can be browsed and played in at any time, lifting holiday visitor numbers by over 150% year on year.
Separately, Yiwu Customs earlier announced that as of October 7 the "Yixinou" (Yiwu–Europe) China-Europe freight trains had surpassed 200,000 TEU in cumulative import-export containers. As one of the national China-Europe train assembly centers, Yixinou runs 27 stable routes radiating to more than 160 cities in over 50 countries and regions across Eurasia.
The combination of surging cross-border e-commerce, a booming digital-trade center and the Yixinou network underscores Yiwu's deepening role as a global trade hub linking domestic and overseas markets.
