Volkswagen Group reported record-breaking electric vehicle sales across Southeast Asia in August 2026, with total EV deliveries surpassing 25,000 units -- a 180% year-over-year increase. The surge was driven primarily by the ID. series models, including the ID.3, ID.4, and ID. Buzz, which collectively accounted for over 60% of regional EV sales. Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia emerged as the three largest EV markets in the region. Volkswagen attributed the growth to expanded dealership networks, competitive pricing strategies, and government EV incentives in key markets. The Group also announced plans to invest an additional EUR 500 million in local EV infrastructure and charging networks across Southeast Asia by 2028. As part of its regional strategy, Volkswagen will introduce the ID.7 sedan and an all-new compact electric SUV tailored for Southeast Asian consumers in the fourth quarter of 2026.
