Yiche's breakdown of the first three quarters' producer passenger-car exports, published on October 24, shows Chery, BYD and Geely occupying the top three with markedly different gaps, with SAIC, Great Wall and Tesla China close behind. Chery led with over 1.52 million units (21.8% share), BYD with over 1.3 million (18.6%) and Geely with 780,000 (11.2%) — the top three together exceeding 50% of the market.
On the NEV export board, BYD dominated with over 1.3 million units and a 33.5% share, far ahead of Chery, Geely, Tesla China and SAIC. Among September's single-month exports, BYD again led, with volume more than double that of second-place Chery; Geely, Tesla China and SAIC rounded out the top five.
Growth is striking: BYD, Geely, Leapmotor, XPeng and GAC Aion all posted year-on-year export gains above 100%, with GAC Aion up as much as 300% and GAC Trumpchi up over 9x. New forces are also going global — Leapmotor sold over 150,000 units overseas in the first nine months.
The data underscore Chinese brands' accelerating overseas momentum even as the domestic market intensifies, with BYD, Geely and Chery posting multiple-times growth and becoming the strongest export risers of 2026.
