CCTV reports that this Mid-Autumn, Yiwu - China's core distribution center for festive products - is enjoying a sales peak for items blending traditional Mid-Autumn culture with handcraft, such as ornaments and lanterns loved by buyers at home and abroad.
At a shop in the Yiwu Global Digital Trade Center, merchant Sun Lingjuan was checking orders bound for Southeast Asia. Her 'Changgong Shiyue' (Moon-Palace Gathering) series - earrings, bracelets and necklaces - proved an instant hit with overseas buyers from Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia. Cross-border e-commerce livestreaming is also taking the products straight to consumers.
In the traditional-goods market, Mid-Autumn lanterns are equally hot. With richer colors and motifs such as the jade rabbit gazing at the moon and autumn blossoms, handmade lanterns that combine craftsmanship with visual appeal have become this year's market bestsellers.
