A People's Daily report on September 10, 2026 highlighted how State Grid Yiwu has supported small and micro merchants through reliable and green electricity supply.
Wenyuan Stationery, a local enterprise, completed a source-network-load-storage integrated upgrade that now meets 30% of its basic production power needs with self-generated green electricity, saving more than 200,000 RMB annually. With green credentials, the company's stationery products have gained more overseas orders.
The initiative has benefited nearly 24,000 small merchants in Yiwu, with cumulative cost savings exceeding 48 million RMB. The report noted that convenient and reliable electricity supply is helping sustain Yiwu's vibrant small-business ecosystem.
The case illustrates how green energy infrastructure is supporting the export competitiveness of China's small and medium enterprises.
