The main theme of this exhibition is "Friendship between Two Cities", presenting a panoramic view of the friendship journey from the 17th century "China fever" to contemporary Sino German cooperation and win-win through precious cultural relics and documents from both China and Germany, and writing the history of exchanges between the two port cities of Shanghai and Hamburg.

The exhibition site leads the audience through history with a circular exhibition wall design, reviewing the acquaintance between Hamburg and Shanghai. In 1731, the first Chinese merchant ship loaded with tea, silk, and porcelain sailed into the port of Hamburg, opening up trade relations between Hamburg and China; After the opening of Shanghai as a port in the 1840s, the air route between Hamburg and Shanghai was officially opened, and Hamburg merchants took the lead in setting up foreign firms in Shanghai, allowing "Made in Germany" to dock in Shanghai. The exhibits such as TENAX cameras and Faber pencils in the exhibition hall tell the story of the integration of German industrial products into the daily lives of Shanghai residents.

The exhibition also focuses on contemporary stories of twin city friendship. Since the reform and opening up, the logistics channel between Shanghai and Hamburg has carried a number of landmark Sino German cooperation achievements such as Santana cars, subway trains, maglev trains, etc. In 2004, Shanghai Port and Hamburg Port became sisters ports. In 2021, Hamburg welcomed its first "China Europe Express - Shanghai Express" departing from Shanghai.

The exhibition will continue until October 18th. (End)
