On August 26, the 2027 FAW Toyota bZ5 officially went on sale. At the launch event, Dou Huijuan, deputy general manager of FAW Toyota Motor Sales Co., spoke about the accelerating pace of new-product iteration in the auto industry: large numbers of rush-job models and concept cars are crowding onto the market, yet industry dividends keep shrinking and few of the clustered new launches ever become genuine hits.
Dou pointed out that the sales cycle of most new cars has shortened dramatically - after the initial buzz fades, they quickly go cold - and the industry is sliding into an involution trap that prizes iteration speed over long-term validation and short-term performance over full-lifecycle quality. Marketing slogans multiply while products grow homogenized, leaving consumers confused when choosing a car.
In response, Dou said that facing the wave of intelligent electrification, FAW Toyota firmly refuses to make rush-job cars and will not sacrifice users' most core needs - reliability and safety - to chase a market fad.
On the powertrain side, the bZ5 carries a lithium iron phosphate battery (BYD Blade battery) supplied by FinDreams Powertrain, with a 200 kW motor and CLTC range of 550 to 630 kilometers. For intelligent driving, the car is equipped with Momenta's Flywheel large model 5.0, supporting full-scenario urban assisted driving with more than thirty assisted-driving functions. The 2027 model is expected to upgrade its intelligent-driving system and range, with specifications further enhanced.
