US stocks opened lower across the board, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 0.01%, the S&P 500 down 0.13% and the Nasdaq Composite down 0.22%. Meta shares rose more than 3% after the company reached a settlement in lawsuits brought by US states accusing its platforms of harming children's health. Kohl's fell more than 5% after releasing its second-quarter financial results. Boston Scientific also dropped more than 5% after a cybersecurity incident disrupted its global operations. Software stocks broadly declined: ServiceNow, Salesforce and Adobe each lost more than 3%, and Palantir fell more than 1%.
