The 'space business trip' of the Shenzhou-23 astronaut crew — Zhu Yangzhu, Zhang Zhiyuan, and Li Jiaying — is about to reach three months. During this period, they have methodically carried out space science experiments and continuously performed tasks such as module platform maintenance and health management.
The three astronauts replaced experimental samples inside the on-orbit maintenance and assembly cabinet, completed cleaning and replacement of the sample chamber in the containerless cabinet, and performed electrode maintenance on the axial mechanism and cleaning of viewport cover lenses. In addition, they replaced gas cylinders in the combustion science experiment cabinet and carried out vacuum pumping and exhaust work.
For module platform maintenance, the crew conducted space-station microbiology monitoring, sampling and testing microorganisms in cabin air, surfaces, and the water system to assess their growth and provide a basis for on-orbit microbial prevention and control.
To maintain good health, the crew completed overall visual-function measurement, non-invasive cardiac function checks, and other items on schedule; the data will be used by researchers for long-term on-orbit health monitoring. The three astronauts also exercise on orbit regularly and use devices such as a bone-loss countermeasure apparatus to actively counteract the physiological effects of weightlessness.
Amid their busy work, the astronauts also eat to replenish energy and relax, ensuring they have plenty of energy to meet subsequent tasks.
