"Cheng 'an-1", an integrated offshore intelligent unmanned boat, was recently put into operation in the waters of the Chenghai 1-1 artificial island in the Bohai Bay, and completed the first round of offshore testing under Class III sea conditions.

"Cheng 'an No. 1" was led by PetroChina Dagang Oilfield Company and independently developed by China Petroleum Group Engineering Technology Research Co., Ltd. and Hehai University, marking the new stage of intelligent unmanned operation of offshore oil and gas facilities in China.

The wind and waves in the shallow sea area of Bohai Bay are intertwined, and the submarine oil and gas pipelines and cables are dense. Traditionally, people have faced pain points such as limited operating windows, high personnel risks, and high costs. "Cheng 'an No. 1" adopts the stable configuration of the upper deck of the catamaran suspension and vibration damping, with a design endurance of not less than 12 hours, and can stably perform autonomous navigation, equipment layout and pipeline detection tasks under three sea conditions. Relying on environmental awareness, autonomous obstacle avoidance and flow rate adaptive planning technology, unmanned boats can automatically plan routes, significantly improving navigation and line measurement accuracy in complex sea conditions.

In terms of detection operations, Cheng 'an-1 can be equipped with multi-beam, side-scan sonar, shallow stratigraphy profiler, magnetometer and other equipment to carry out submarine topographic mapping and pipeline positioning in collaboration. At the same time, it is equipped with a load lifting, towing and retracting mechanism, which can independently complete the lowering and recycling of the detection equipment, and realize the upgrade from the "load loading platform" to the comprehensive underwater operation platform.

"In the past, this kind of sea condition inspection ship was afraid to go out to sea easily, but now the operator can make the drone work accurately in the wind and waves by tapping the mouse in the office," said the project leader.

At present, "Cheng 'an No. 1" relies on a modular interface, which can quickly expand to offshore wind power survey, underwater target search, hydrological monitoring and other scenarios, and build an intelligent operation mode of "shore remote planning, unmanned execution at sea, real-time data return, and autonomous return of equipment" to provide solutions for offshore energy facilities security inspection.
