Yiwu Customs announced that this year's cross-border e-commerce import order volume has surpassed 100 million orders, more than 40 days earlier than last year, CCTV's "Spotlight" reported on October 21. The milestone signals that Yiwu is turning "buying from the world" into a new calling card alongside its traditional strength of "selling to the world."
Riding mature online and offline channels and continuously optimized clearance policies, Yiwu is building a two-way trade hub. The cross-border import boom is backed by the "Yiwu Selection" overseas showroom network and the new Global Digital Trade Center, which let overseas quality goods reach Chinese consumers efficiently while local small commodities flow out just as fast.
The import surge complements Yiwu's export engine: from January to August, Yiwu's foreign-trade export reached 548.85 billion yuan, up 12.8% year on year, while the "Yixinou" China-Europe freight train has surpassed 200,000 TEU of inbound-outbound containers across 27 routes to more than 160 cities.
Together, the dual flow of imports and exports embodies Yiwu's evolution from a one-way "world supermarket" into a bidirectional global trade node serving both Chinese and overseas markets.
