At the Paris Motor Show, Chinese brands showcased not just single models but full product matrices spanning BEV, PHEV, HEV and range-extender routes, together with system capabilities in batteries, intelligent driving, cockpits and charging, Securities Times reported on October 22. GAC debuted its global service brand GAC CARE+ and the AION UT Cross; Leapmotor's A05 made its European debut; XPeng's G9L launched globally with its NGP assistant-driving system experienced publicly in Europe for the first time; Geely appeared as a group with the Monjaro EM-i and Lynk 07 GT; Changan's Avatr T09 debuted globally; and BYD's ATTO 8 arrived as the brand's first Europe-bound model with the second-generation blade battery.
European visitors' recognition is shifting from price and specifications toward workmanship, quality, safety and durability. A French owner who drove a Chinese-made MG5 for 125,000 km said its battery retained about 94% capacity, challenging the myth that EV batteries fail at 100,000 km.
Unlike earlier pure exports, Chinese makers are moving R&D, manufacturing, service and energy ecosystems into Europe. GAC plans a European R&D center in 2027 with a 100-plus local engineering team by 2028; Geely formed Geely Tech Europe to compress new-model launch gaps to under six months; Leapmotor's B10 rolled off the Stellantis Zaragoza line, with Lafa5 due in Q1 2027; Changan's European base targets 180,000 units by 2028 and 350,000 by 2030.
"Good products win trust; good service keeps it," said GAC International's general manager, highlighting that service-going-global is now as important as selling cars.
