At an Oct 20 State Council Information Office press conference, MIIT said China's intelligent computing scale reached 2,592 EFLOPS as of end-September 2026, up 146% year on year, providing a robust network and compute foundation for advanced manufacturing. The country had built 5.254 million 5G base stations, with 5G-A coverage expanding.
More than 20 AI phones and PCs were launched in the third quarter, and over 100 AI terminal products now meet L3 assistive-level capability requirements, spanning phones, computers, TVs, glasses, vehicle cockpits and earbuds. The electronics-manufacturing fixed-asset investment rose 9.6% in the first three quarters, with domestic PCB new disclosed investment of about 169.1 billion yuan in the first half — more than four times the year-earlier level.
MIIT said it is studying and drafting policies on a new generation of smart manufacturing to accelerate the deep integration of AI and manufacturing, and will implement a broadband-upgrade campaign, promote 1,000-Mbps upgrades and 10,000-Mbps starts, and expand compute facilities to underpin high-end manufacturing.
