At the October 19 State Council Information Office briefing, MIIT science and technology director Wei Wei outlined three "accelerations" for the embodied-intelligence industry led by humanoid robots. First, scale is growing fast: in the first half of 2026 China's humanoid-robot whole-product types surpassed 400 and output exceeded 40,000 units, with full-year output expected to top 100,000.
Second, innovation capability is rising — industry, academia and research are jointly tackling key technologies in motion control, simulation and tactile sensing, steadily lifting product performance. Third, application is landing quickly: a real-scene training campaign is pushing products into more than 300 key scenarios across warehouse logistics, food and beverage retail, and home services.
Wei said the ministry will "attack technology" via open calls for key common technologies, "expand scenarios" through real-scene training, "build the ecosystem" by publishing the 2026 National Humanoid-Robot Industry Standards System Guide, and "ensure safety" through monitoring, testing and ethics governance.
The remarks signal that humanoid robots are moving from lab demos into measurable commercial and public-service deployment, with standards and safety frameworks arriving alongside the hardware.
