VAST AI Research has open-sourced EdenLive, a real-time generative rendering engine. Given a reference such as a gray-box render or a real video, together with a first frame and a prompt, it can generate photorealistic or stylized footage in real time.
According to the release, a single GPU can generate 720p video above 24 FPS; the 5-billion-parameter model can run in real time on a single RTX 5090. That puts interactive, AI-generated video within reach of individual creators and smaller studios rather than only large render farms.
The tool fits a wider trend of Chinese AI labs open-sourcing creative-generation models — from image and 3D to video — giving developers transparent, modifiable building blocks for production pipelines.
For the broader industry, real-time generative rendering lowers the cost of prototyping film, game and design visuals, potentially reshaping how creative teams iterate on looks and scenes.
