On the evening of October 20, Li Auto co-founder, president and chief engineer Ma Donghui announced the "Lianshan" electric technology system, covering batteries, e-drives, ultra-fast-charging equipment and a self-built charging network, with the company's in-house battery named the Lianshan battery. Li Auto simultaneously launched a battery guarantee plan: if a fire caused by a quality defect in its self-developed battery totals the vehicle, the company will compensate with a new car of equal configuration; for fires from collision or underbody scraping, it will cover the gap between the insurance policy and actual payout.
Separately, Huawei's Yinwang (Avatr-related intelligent unit) and CATL have confirmed that the first model under their "chocolate" battery-swap cooperation is planned for 2027 — the product will be from the Yijing brand co-developed by Dongfeng and Huawei. The deal ties Huawei's intelligent driving and cockpit systems to CATL's standardized swap battery.
The two moves illustrate a deepening "battery as a service" and in-house-power-train trend among Chinese automakers, as firms seek to control core technology and differentiate on energy, charging and ownership experience rather than vehicle styling alone.
For consumers, the guarantee plans also signal a bid to rebuild confidence in battery safety after a year of intense price competition.
