At Everything Electric 2026 in Sydney (September 18–20), cars dominated Australia's premier electrification show, with more than a dozen manufacturers exhibiting and many choosing the event for local debuts—reflecting soaring consumer interest in EVs. Among the unveiled models were the sleek Zeekr 7GT wagon, the much-anticipated Chery Stockman ute, the Geely Battleship 700 and an electric MG U9 ute.
Newer Chinese brands made up the bulk of the marques on display, with established names such as MG, GWM and BYD rubbing shoulders with newcomers including Forthing and Farizon. "The traffic is very huge, even better than I expected," said MG Motor Australia senior vice president Felix Jiang, crediting higher EV acceptance and gasoline prices.
Most manufacturers ran test-drive areas, and electric motorbikes, scooters and even a four-passenger joystick-operated hydrofoil joined the road vehicles. The absence of Tesla and Kia stands was notable, while Mazda ran low-cost guerrilla marketing. The event highlighted how Chinese EV makers are becoming the mainstay of Australia's fast-growing electrification market.
