At the 2026 Smart Economy Forum on September 16, Baidu Smart Cloud proposed the industry-first "Industrial Agent Operating System," integrating general, professional and customized agents deeply into enterprise data and processes rather than leaving them as new silos.
Baidu executive VP Shen Dou said enterprises' tasks split into 20% daily operations, 30% professional domains and 50% core business that decides outcomes—all to be internalized by corresponding agents. The OS takes tasks from the top, connects knowledge/data/processes in the middle and schedules cloud compute and security at the bottom.
Baidu also launched the Baidu Dazi developer platform and declared its Skill ecosystem will "never take a commission," with all third-party revenue going to developers; Baidu Dazi's July MAU reached 6.743 million. On infrastructure, over 150 top models are callable and long-chain agent inference improved more than 3x in six months.
