Volkswagen Unveils ID. California Cruise, Its First All-Electric Campervan

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles revealed the ID. California Cruise at the Caravan Salon in Dusseldorf, marking the first battery-electric model in the California campervan family that dates back to 1988. Based on the ID. Buzz Pro in standard and long-wheelbase formats, the camper sleeps two on a folding 2.03-meter mattress and can run its climate control for up to 48 hours while parked. A dedicated California mode manages lighting and USB power, while the vehicle-to-load system can supply up to 3.6 kW peak to power appliances, e-bike chargers and mobile workstations. Pricing starts at EUR 60,761 in Germany, with first deliveries expected in early 2027, and more electric California models are planned by 2028.
