Tesla held its Cybercab launch event on September 3 at Gigafactory Texas in Austin, unveiling a purpose-built, fully autonomous two-seat electric robotaxi with no steering wheel or pedals. The vehicle runs entirely on Tesla's Full Self-Driving software and is expected to be priced below $30,000, with operating costs around $0.20 per mile. Production Cybercabs have been rolling off the Giga Texas line since April, and Tesla plans to integrate the model into its Robotaxi app in Austin, offering public rides following the event. Nevada regulators earlier granted Tesla a permit to deploy up to 5,000 Cybercabs in the Las Vegas area over the next 12 months.
