Tesla has confirmed an exclusive, invite-only Cybercab launch event in Austin, Texas on September 3, 2026, featuring a live public livestream. The purpose-built two-seat robotaxi has no steering wheel or pedals, uses an approximately 48 kWh battery pack with a curb weight of about 3,113 lb, and runs the same FSD software stack as Model Y robotaxis already operating driverless in Austin. Production began at Gigafactory Texas in 2026, and early units were recently spotted running empty on Austin public streets. The vehicle is designed to join Tesla's existing unsupervised robotaxi network and features an RGB light strip that displays colors to help passengers identify their assigned car.
