The reporter learned from the China National Coal Association that in the first half of this year, the country's average daily raw coal output by above-scale industrial enterprises reached 13.07 million tons, the second highest for the same period on record, and coal's role as the ballast of the main energy source continues to play out.
Currently, China has entered the peak summer energy-use period, with temperatures in most regions higher than the same period in normal years and staged heat waves in some areas. To actively respond to extreme climates and ensure coal supply for the peak summer, the coal industry is giving full play to the advantages of large modern and intelligent coal mines, and national coal production and supply remain stable and orderly.
Zhang Hong, vice president of the China National Coal Association, said that from the perspective of major coal-consuming industries, in the first six months of this year, coal-fired power generation increased by about 3% year-on-year, playing an important backstop role in peak summer, peak generation, and supply security. Chemical coal use increased 7.3% year-on-year, driving a steady increase in coal consumption demand.
Experts said that in the second half of the year, China's macroeconomy will maintain steady and relatively rapid growth, 'AI+' application scenarios will become increasingly widespread, and big data and computing energy use will continue to rise rapidly, driving sustained growth in energy consumption demand. Coal will remain the mainstay and an important backstop for the country's safe and stable energy supply.
