Customs data shows Yiwu's imports and exports reached 486.42 billion yuan in the first half of 2026, with imports jumping 39.1% year on year.

YIWU, Aug. 13 - Yiwu Customs released the city's first-half foreign trade report for 2026: total imports and exports reached 486.42 billion yuan, up 19.9% year on year.

Of the total, exports reached 420.72 billion yuan, while imports stood at 65.70 billion yuan, with import growth accelerating to 39.1% year on year - highlighting the 'world supermarket's' dual-track expansion in both selling to and buying from the globe.

As the world's largest hub for daily consumer goods, Yiwu is home to about 75,000 booths offering more than 2.1 million product varieties, forming the world's biggest distribution center for consumer goods.

In 2025, Yiwu's total imports and exports exceeded 836.5 billion yuan, with trade ties established with 233 countries and regions around the world - a testament to its deeply embedded role in global supply chains.

The market-procurement trade mode (customs code 1039), first piloted in Yiwu, has solved the compliance challenges of small, mixed and invoice-free exports. In 2025, Yiwu's 1039-mode exports accounted for 70.7% of China's total in the same category and supported more than 80% of the city's exports.

A 'half-hour industrial chain' enables buyers to source buttons, zippers and packaging within a 30-minute drive from the International Trade City, giving Yiwu an extreme 'fast response' capability that lets foreign buyers inspect samples in the morning and pick up goods in the afternoon.

Looking ahead, Yiwu is upgrading from a single 'sell-to-the-world' channel to a 'buy-and-sell global' dual track, with import whitelists and brand-going-global strategies gradually broadening its value chain.
