Yiwu Customs announced on August 26, 2026 that the city's "origin-declaration inspection" reform for market-procurement cosmetics has seen cumulative customs declarations exceed 2,000, marking a milestone for a trade facilitation pilot that benefits small and micro exporters.
Under the reform, cosmetics procured from Yiwu's market can be inspected and cleared at the place of declaration, significantly simplifying procedures that previously required testing at designated sites. The value cap per declaration has been raised from 1,000 USD to 150,000 USD, and customs clearance time has been cut by half.
Officials said the reform reduces compliance costs for small traders and encourages more compliant cosmetics exports, helping Yiwu, the world's largest small-commodity hub, expand its share of the global beauty and personal care trade.
