OpenAI Chief Financial Officer Sarah Friar told staff the company plans to go public by 2027 at the latest and could move earlier if business accelerates, according to people familiar with an all-hands meeting. The remarks came as OpenAI disclosed second-quarter revenue of $6.7 billion, up 18% from the prior quarter, even as losses widened following heavy compute and staffing expansion. Rival Anthropic is reported to be weighing its own listing as soon as September. The disclosures offer a rare look at the financials of the leading AI labs as they scale toward public markets.
