   2026-08-18 NVIDIA / CIO Times / Bloomberg20

At GTC 2026 NVIDIA outlined a $1T AI-chip opportunity, unveiled the six-part Rubin platform, an edge world model and a photonic switch.

At its GTC 2026 keynote, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang outlined a potential $1 trillion in AI-chip sales opportunity through 2027 and introduced a wave of new hardware. The Rubin platform arrives as a six-part "AI supercomputer" — GPU, Vera CPU, NVLink 6 switch, ConnectX-9 SuperNIC, BlueField-4 DPU and Spectrum 6 switch — with samples already in hyperscaler labs and general availability targeted for early 2027. NVIDIA also released Cosmos3Edge, a 4-billion-parameter on-device "world model" for real-time robot reasoning on Jetson Thor edge hardware, and said its Spectrum-X Ethernet photonic switch is in full production, cutting power to one-fifth of conventional designs.
