BEIJING, Aug. 12 - China's vehicle exports exceeded 1 million units for the second consecutive month in July 2026, according to data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) on Aug. 12.
In July, the country exported 1.043 million vehicles, up 0.6% month on month and 81.3% year on year, continuing a strong growth trend. Following June, China's vehicle exports have now surpassed the 1-million-unit threshold for two straight months, reaching a new high.
NEVs remain a key driver of export growth. In July, NEV exports reached 553,000 units, up 1.5 times year on year, accounting for more than 50% of total vehicle exports.
In the first seven months of the year, China's vehicle production and sales reached 17.567 million and 17.602 million units respectively. Among them, NEV production and sales continued to grow, with the NEV share of monthly new-car sales exceeding 60% for the first time and the cumulative share surpassing 50%.
Industry analysts noted that while the domestic market is under pressure, foreign trade remains strong. NEVs have become a new engine driving export growth, and the structural shift from 'fuel-vehicle-led' to 'NEV-led' exports is accelerating.
The sustained expansion of overseas demand, combined with Chinese automakers' accelerating global deployment - from product exports to system-level exports - is expected to further underpin the resilience of the country's vehicle export growth.
