China's NEV Penetration Rate Hits Record High of 65.1% in July

According to data released by the China Passenger Car Association on August 11, 2026, the retail penetration rate of new energy vehicles in China's overall passenger car market reached 65.1% in July, an increase of 11.6 percentage points compared to the same period last year, and a month-on-month increase of 2.1 percentage points. This marks another record high for NEV penetration in China. In July 2026, China's new energy vehicle production and sales reached 1.576 million and 1.561 million units respectively, with NEVs accounting for 60.4% of total new car sales. The cumulative share for the first seven months of 2026 exceeded 50% for the first time.
