Anthropic Says Research Version of Claude Advances Riemann Hypothesis Lower Bound to 67.2%

   2026-08-10 Anthropic Research10

Anthropic says an unreleased research version of Claude raised the proven lower bound on Riemann hypothesis zeros to 67.2% from 41.6%.

Anthropic announced on August 10 that an unreleased research version of its Claude model increased the proven lower bound for the proportion of Riemann zeta-function zeros that satisfy the Riemann hypothesis, from 41.6% to 67.2%. The model did not solve the hypothesis itself, but the result represents a meaningful advance on a long-standing open problem in mathematics. Anthropic framed the finding as evidence that AI systems can contribute to frontier mathematical research, highlighting potential for human–AI collaboration on problems previously considered out of reach for machines.
