Alibaba's Qwen3.8-Max, Moonshot's Kimi K3, DeepSeek-V4-Flash, Zhipu's Z.ai GLM-5.2, and ByteDance's Seedance 2.5 were all released in rapid succession. Kimi K3, with 2.8 trillion total parameters, topped the Hugging Face trending list within one hour of release. DeepSeek-V4-Flash ranked first globally on the OpenRouter weekly chart with 7.22 trillion tokens of call volume. Qwen3.8-Max briefly topped Artificial Analysis' Agentic Index global rankings.
According to OpenRouter data, the top six most-called models in July 2026 were all from Chinese companies. Stanford's "2026 AI Index Report" shows the performance gap between top Chinese and US models has narrowed to just 2.7%.
Industry statistics reveal that Chinese open-source models have surpassed 10 billion cumulative global downloads, ranking first worldwide.
