Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Asif told Bloomberg on August 11 that the United States and Iran are close to "some sort of an arrangement," saying signals in the last two to three days suggest the sides are nearing a peace deal or agreement.
Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi arrived in Tehran for talks with Iranian officials, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, Iran's state broadcaster reported. Pakistan has been mediating between the US and Iran throughout the conflict alongside Oman and Qatar.
The developments come as the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, with Iran insisting it will not reopen the waterway unless Washington accepts its conditions, including the release of frozen assets and an end to regional conflicts.
