XPeng founder and CEO He Xiaopeng has set an ambitious global goal for the electric vehicle maker: annual sales of 1 million vehicles worldwide by the end of 2030, with Europe expected to account for roughly half of that volume.
According to the company, XPeng also plans to begin delivering its high-level intelligent driving assistance systems to global markets in stages starting from 2027, extending its software-led strategy beyond China.
The announcement comes as Chinese NEV makers accelerate their overseas push. In September, Chinese automakers' exports remained above the 1-million-unit monthly threshold for the fourth consecutive month, and NEV exports reached 571,000 units in the month, up more than 160 percent year on year.
The competitive pressure on incumbents is visible in the latest industry figures: Volkswagen Group's global deliveries for the first three quarters of 2026 fell 9 percent year on year to 6.01 million vehicles, with its China sales down about 30 percent, while Tesla's Model Y topped all-category passenger car sales across the five Nordic countries in September.
