System windows offer several glass choices. Clear glass: good light transmission and low price, for areas with low performance demands. Tempered glass: high strength and impact resistance; when broken it forms small granules that are less likely to injure, used where safety matters. Insulating glass: two or more panes separated by an aluminium spacer forming an air layer, effectively reducing heat transfer with good insulation and soundproofing — the common choice for system windows. Laminated glass: two or more panes with one or more PVB films, highly impact-resistant and non-shattering, with some sound and heat insulation, for safety/sound scenes. Low-E glass: a multi-layer metal/compound coating blocks infrared and UV, reducing heat loss while keeping good light transmission — significant energy savings.
